Third runway puts nail in government's cough-in

It's shamefaced, pathetic and deeply sad.

The government's decision to go ahead with a third runway at Heathrow dismisses any last doubts about whether they are serious about tackling climate change.

They've bowed to intense lobbying from BAA, who must expand to survive. They've ignored everybody else - from the Stern Report to local people whose lives will be ruined. See news report here.

They say they are doing it so the UK remains competitive. Strange idea of being competitive - mortgaging the country's future to INCREASED fuel consumption and C02 emissions. Most people suggest we should be trying to do the opposite.
